Hello,

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. I promise I will try and keep it interesting, thought provoking and maybe a little funny, possibly a bit weird. I'll share travel stories and other thoughts.

In my about section I started writing instead about why I enjoy taking photos instead of boring pointless information about me. This is the rest of my thought.

In our world everything yet nothing is the same. Our perception of this planet is truly an individual one. All of us living within our own explanation it. All experiencing each situation or even sense differently, regardless of how minute the difference is. Making it a little hard to grasp that in reality, the only thing we will ever really know is that everything (in a way) is actually unknown.

While doing research into photography websites; how to set them up, what to include and what others are doing in the same field. I fell into a worm hole of photography. A common saying, is that “a photo says more than a thousand words”. Which of course is true. Photo can tell a story, capturing a moment in time forever. Preserving a memory so it can be revisited. The use of photography now is so accessible to the majority of the worlds population, granted not everyone is able to capture effectively what they envision but this is what allows the “real” photographers to shine through.

“A camera did not make a great photograph anymore than a typewriter wrote a great novel” - Ansel Adams

With regards to this, an individuals level of creativity is reflected in the outcome of their images. Creativity is like many things, a spectrum. There seems correlation with creativity and our perspective on our environment. Embracing this quality allows the individual to be more open to new experiences and have a more powerful ability to think outside the box. People who are more open are more inquisitive about the world around them. They have a “Drive for cognitive exploration of ones inner and outer worlds” (Wired to Create - Kaufmand & Gregoire). This desire to pursue knowledge and bend the realms in which we exist in the only way we know how may lessen as we age but there are a few of us that haven’t let our inner child grow up but have adapted to have a symbiotic relationship with that part of us. Allowing us to be able to see things in another way completely.

Theres a strong correlation with creativity and mindfulness, in turn impacting upon happiness. Therefore, Whatever your creative outlet is embrace it. Being able to enjoy and learn. Developing new skills, escaping the world and disappearing into a zone in which you have some control over. While creating you are engrossed in the moment. All other thoughts can be put on the back burner. Pursue your passion, study it and run with it. Chose to escape of any unnecessary stressors of the day with something you truly enjoy.

Later on, I will delve deeper into the psychology behind the topics touched upon in this blog. But for now, thank you for taking the time to read the ramblings of a creative being. I hope it peaked your interest and got you thinking.
